Caveats before performing vision correction

Before performing laser vision correction, a set of important precautions must be taken to avoid any side effects that can affect the eye, here are the details

Laser vision correction has become one of the most widespread and easy operations, and many people resort to it to give up wearing glasses, and enjoy the strength of vision after treating various eye problems.

Important precautions before performing laser vision correction
Before performing vision correction, you should pay attention to some important caveats and precautions, including:

• Stop wearing eye lenses

You should stop wearing eye lenses weeks before the doctor examines the eye and decides on the vision correction procedure, because wearing contact lenses changes the shape of the cornea, leading to incorrect measurements, and thus affects the result of vision correction.
Two weeks before surgery, you should stop wearing lenses.

• Talk to your doctor about your medical history

An important thing to do is to talk with your eye doctor about any health problem you’ve ever encountered regarding your eye.

Tell your doctor about any medications you’re taking and any medications that cause you allergies.

• Discontinue the use of various preparations

You should refrain from using any cosmetics before laser vision correction surgery, such as perfumes, makeup, skin care products and various creams.

Also, make sure that any makeup on the face is removed with a makeup remover and that there are no residue in the eye area.

Important things after laser vision correction and
after laser vision correction, some things must be taken care of to maintain the success of the operation. It is represented in

• Get plenty of rest

The eye needs rest after the vision correction operation, as it causes some discomfort and pain during the first days after the operation, such as dry eyes and sensitivity to light, so it is recommended to take a great break and stay away from stress.

A week after the operation, you can return to normal daily activities and go to work, but without eye strain to reduce pressure on them.

• Adhere to the doctor’s instructions

You must adhere to all the doctor’s instructions regarding eye comfort, take medications that relieve pain, and put eye drops prescribed by the doctor.

You should also visit the doctor at the dates he specifies to follow up on the result of the operation, and often the doctor requests a visit a week after the operation, and another visit after a month.

• Take precautions to prevent eye inflammation

There are some measures that protect the eye from infection, such as not exposing the eye to dust, dust or harmful sunlight, or rubbing the eye.

If you have to leave the house at sunshine, sunglasses should be worn.

It is also advised not to watch TV during the first days after the operation, and this also applies to smartphones and tablets.

• Do not use contact lenses

After the vision correction operation, you will not need to wear prescription lenses, and you should not wear any type of lenses until the eye is healed.

• Do not expose the eye to water

It is preferable not to shower for one to two days after the vision correction operation, and the body can be washed and cleaned without soap or water reaching the eye.

Swimming should not be practiced for two to three months after the operation, as pool water contains chlorine, which can harm eye health, and it is also recommended to avoid sauna.

• Do not wear makeup

Makeup can cause eye irritation, especially in the period after the procedure, so face and eye makeup should not be applied for a week to 10 days.

It is also not recommended to dye hair, as the dye contains harmful chemicals that can affect the eye.
